Oil shock lifts yields as Nordic power and financing risks build
Oil prices stayed elevated after continued disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz and Saudi export routes, with Brent reported above $100 and $107 a barrel in separate updates, while the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield reached 5% for the first time since 2023 and Germany’s 10-year yield rose to 3.53%, its highest since August 2009. In parallel, Finland and Sweden reported a fault in their electricity transmission interconnection, expected to take about a week to repair, China’s economy showed signs of weakness as investment slumped, and several Nordic firms disclosed financing or capital-allocation moves, including IMHO Intermedia’s directed share issue, Moba Network’s proposed new share issue and Goobit’s planned rights issue. The EU also delayed sanctions timing by a week, while the U.S. repealed greenhouse-gas rules for power plants.
